According to industry sources consulted by the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP), the price of diesel will fall by 1.5 cents, while petrol is expected to fall by 1 cent.
Diesel, it is worth noting, "costs 1.533 cents per litre this week and will go up to 1.518 cents per litre. Compared to October 1st, it is 0.7 cents cheaper."
Petrol "cost 1.693 cents per litre and fell to 1.683 cents per litre. Compared to October, it is 2.6 cents more expensive."
The ACP recalls that, according to the General Directorate of Energy and Geology (DGEG), the average price of a litre of diesel in Portugal on Friday (May 16) was 1.501 euros, while that of petrol was 1.667 euros.
Dear Editor
It is deeply concerning that Portugal continues to maintain one of the lowest minimum wages in Europe while impossing a 23% VAT rate and exorbitant fuel taxes. This situation is unsustainable for the Portugues people, who face ever-increasing living costs while their purchasing power diminishes. Meanwhile, ANGOLA - a nation with rich fuel reserves in Cabinda, a nations with strong historical colonial ties to Portugal - offers fuel to its citizens at a mere Euro: 0.29 cents per liter. YES THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MOMENT!
Given our longstanding relationship and Angola's rapid economic development, it is both logical and imperative that Portugal negotiates a fair agreement to secure more affordable fuel prices. A reduction of just a few cents is an insult to struggling families & businesses:, as substantial action is needed! Portugal cannot afford to stagnate, or even worse, fall further behind while other EU nations progress. We urge the policymakers to act decisively and prioritize the well-being of the Portuguese people. Drop these exorbatant taxes as the people cannot cope. The time for change is now!
Sincerely
