This week, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) published an analysis for the next four weeks, between 19 May and 15 June.
Regarding precipitation, IPMA forecasts vary according to the week, with above-normal values (1 to 30 mm) expected for this week [day 19 to 25] in the North and Centre regions. In the 2nd week, from May 26 to June 1, above-normal values are expected to extend to "almost the entire territory".
From June 2 to 8, "it is not possible to identify the existence of a statistically significant signal". For the last period analysed, from June 9 to 15, "below normal" values (-10 to -1mm) are expected.
What about the heat?
As for the average weekly temperature, there are also variations in the different periods, with the next week being marked by below normal values (-3 and 1ºC) throughout the territory and in the third week, from June 2 to 8, with these below normal values only being recorded in the interior North.
For the last week analysed, the one closest to summer - from June 9 to 15 -, the predicted values will already be above normal (0.25 to 3°C) for the entire territory.
