A 1939 copy of Superman No. 1 has become the most valuable comic ever sold at $9.12 million at a Heritage auction.

The issue, being 86 years old and in excellent condition, was graded 9.0 out of 10 by the Certified Guaranty Company. The issue was found in an attic by three brothers going through their late mother’s belongings.
The $9.12 million sale surpassed the 2024 record for Action Comics No. 1. Earlier records were also set by high-grade copies of Superman No. 1 in 2022, and Amazing Fantasy No. 15 in 2021.
