Instead of proceeding with a total ban, it will allow the production of a limited number of petrol and diesel vehicles.

This information comes from the British publication Financial Times. Previously, the plan approved at the European level stipulated that manufacturers would cease production of all vehicles with combustion engines by 2035.

According to the Financial Times, European car manufacturers should be allowed to maintain emissions equivalent to 10% of 2021 levels, provided they meet “certain conditions”.

Two officials involved in the negotiations, quoted by the Financial Times, indicate that these conditions could include the use of green steel in vehicle production. At the same time, electric vehicles may be allowed to contain backup combustion engines, something that was previously supposed to be banned from 2035 onwards.
