The revoked licences include 22 forestry permits covering roughly 1 million hectares and permits for mining, plantation, and hydroelectric operations. The decision followed a government task force audit after Cyclone Senyar-linked floods and landslides that killed hundreds and displaced thousands in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Environmentalists warn that revoking permits must be paired with restoration and enforcement to prevent future degradation.
