The tournament welcomed an incredible 15 teams, bringing together more than 160 players and over 300 spectators, creating an electric atmosphere throughout the weekend. From the opening whistle to the final match, the courts were filled with outstanding netball, determination, teamwork, laughter, new friendships, and exceptional sportsmanship.

Teams travelled from across England, Wales, and Portugal to take part in this fantastic international event, highlighting the growing reach and popularity of netball in Portugal and its expanding presence within Europe.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Municipality of Tavira for its continued support and partnership over the past four years. Special recognition goes to Eurico Manuel Palma, Councillor for Social Affairs, Sports & Health and Vice President of the City of Tavira; Telmo Santos, Senior Sports Technician and Head of the Sports Division; Nuno Fernandes; and Jorge for their dedication and hard work in helping deliver another truly outstanding “wow-factor” sporting event in the Algarve.

Over the last four years, APN Portugal Netball has continued to grow from strength to strength with the support of Europe Netball, World Netball, and the Municipality of Tavira. Portugal is now recognised as an emerging member of both Europe Netball and World Netball and has formally applied to become a fully affiliated federation.

As a non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers, APN Portugal Netball is committed to developing opportunities for children, young people, adults, and seniors across Portugal. Working closely with teachers, parents, schools, and local communities, the organisation is helping introduce and grow netball nationwide.

Supported by Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude and Agência para a Gestão do Sistema Educativo - Desporto Escolar, APN Portugal Netball provides free netball coaching sessions for children in schools, while also training and supporting teachers and local communities to deliver the sport independently.

Through the generosity of sponsors and fundraising tournaments, the organisation is also able to purchase and distribute netball equipment to schools, helping remove barriers to participation and supporting the long-term development of the sport throughout Portugal.

Netball truly is a sport for everyone — welcoming all ages, abilities, and genders.

The excitement continues as APN Portugal Netball prepares to host its next Youth, Adult, and Senior Tournament in Lisbon on 7–8 November, followed by the next Algarve Tournament in May 2027.
