The hospitals and clinics of the HPA Health Group will now adopt the CUF brand, marking a new phase in the consolidation of a more integrated healthcare network, with stronger clinical collaboration between teams and enhanced conditions to provide lifelong care to communities. The change covers healthcare units across the Algarve, Alentejo and Madeira regions and reflects the progress of an integration process that will strengthen collaboration between professionals, teams and services across different parts of the country.
More than a visual rebranding, this milestone represents greater clinical integration, bringing benefits in terms of continuity of care, patient safety and the overall responsiveness of the CUF network.
"The adoption of the CUF brand represents an important moment for our teams, our patients and the communities we serve. It is a step that reinforces our integration into a national healthcare network with a long-term vision, built on clinical quality, proximity and trust," says Pedro Bastos, Chief Executive Officer of CUF's healthcare units in the Algarve, Alentejo and Madeira.
One of the developments already achieved through this process is that clinical teams across the Algarve, Alentejo and Madeira healthcare units can now access the clinical information of patients receiving care in other CUF network facilities. This advancement contributes to greater continuity of care, strengthening clinical safety and enabling a more integrated view of the patient journey for those who entrust their health to CUF teams.
The integration process will continue to be developed gradually, involving the increasing harmonisation of systems, processes and ways of working, while prioritising team stability and maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient safety.
"We want those who choose us to experience, more than ever, the benefits of being part of an integrated national network. The sharing of knowledge between teams, continuity of care and the ability to mobilise specialised expertise are key factors that enable us to respond more effectively to the needs of local communities and prepare for the future of healthcare delivery in these regions," adds Pedro Bastos.
CUF's presence in the Algarve, Alentejo and Madeira also aims to strengthen its proximity to local communities, deepening collaborative relationships with institutions, regional organisations and local partners, with a view to sustainable development and the creation of long-term value in the regions where it operates.
The adoption of the CUF brand by the former HPA Group healthcare units represents an important milestone in a broader integration process that will continue to be implemented in a gradual and structured manner, with the objective of consolidating an increasingly integrated, accessible and future-ready national healthcare network capable of responding to the challenges of healthcare provision in Portugal.

The immediate effect that we are seeing in Madeira is that health care facilities (Hospital Partivular) which were “in-network” in the past, making it MUCH easier for those of us who do not speak Portuguese fluently to navigate the system, now have some doctors who are no longer accepting our insurance. It is now our burden to confirm whether or not a doctor, sometimes one we have seen in the past and even recently, is in network. The effect these changes will have is to push those of us on fixed incomes away from private insurance and to further burden the already stressed public system. Something none of us want to see happen.
