In the life sciences, Miguel Soares of the Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine was selected for his ‘Killbill’ project, a metabolic defence strategy against malaria.

The ERC Advanced Grants, which in this competition provide an average of €2.6 million per scientist, enable senior researchers to develop projects that may lead to major scientific discoveries.
