While Portugal has moved down from last year's position, the change reflects shifts elsewhere in the ranking rather than a significant loss of travel privileges.

Singapore continues to top the global index with access to 192 destinations, followed by Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. Portugal shares fifth place with several other European countries, underlining the continued strength of European passports for international travel.

For Portuguese citizens, the result is unlikely to make any noticeable difference when planning holidays or business trips. The country's passport still provides access to the vast majority of destinations around the world without the need to obtain a visa in advance, making it one of the most convenient travel documents to hold.

The Henley Passport Index is updated regularly using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and measures how many destinations passport holders can enter without obtaining a visa before departure. While the rankings can change from one edition to the next, Portugal has consistently remained among the world's strongest passports for international mobility.
