On the final day, Portuguese companies engaged in strategic meetings with prominent Saudi business leaders, resulting in immediate deals and laying the foundation for long-term partnerships. One of the highlights of the day was a private meeting with Rania Assaf Martin, CEO of Meras International Investment Company, a subsidiary of the influential Al Bawani Group. With more than two decades of experience in the construction and investment sector, Martin is a respected leader in the Saudi business landscape.
A particularly memorable moment of the visit was being hosted by Mr. Alwalid Albaltan, Board Member of the Albaltan Group and President of the Saudi-Portuguese Business Council, at his group’s headquarters. Despite the busy Eid al-Adha holidays, a time traditionally reserved for family gatherings and early celebrations, Mr. Alwalid Albaltan generously dedicated his time and resources to welcome the Portuguese delegation with exceptional warmth and professionalism. His hospitality went far beyond a formal reception: he took a personal interest in introducing the delegation to key figures, sharing invaluable insights into the Saudi market, and facilitating connections that will be instrumental in building future partnerships.
Mr. Alwalid Albaltan’s deep understanding of Saudi Arabia’s economic vision, combined with his commitment to international collaboration, made him an extraordinary host and mentor during this important business mission. His readiness to open doors—especially during a week when many in the kingdom were celebrating the start of the Eid holiday—reflects his dedication to fostering meaningful ties between Portuguese and Saudi enterprises.
Beyond the business meetings, the delegation had the chance to immerse themselves in Saudi culture with a visit to the historic Diriyah and its museum. The evening concluded with a traditional Saudi dinner featuring dishes from various regions of the kingdom, offering guests a true taste of the country’s diverse culinary traditions.
This visit underscored the vast potential for collaboration between Portuguese and Saudi businesses, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals. In the coming days, we will continue to share insights from this visit, including exclusive interviews with participating Portuguese companies. Stay tuned to follow the exciting developments ahead.
