The Portugal News (TPN): What kind of people seek your services?
Wojciech "Wojtek" Blaszczak (WB): We work with remote workers from around the world. Some with Portuguese roots, others without. Many want to stay with their current employer but live in Portugal permanently or temporarily.
TPN: How can people benefit from working in Portugal?
WB: They benefit from a high quality of life, affordable living, and a stable EU framework, all while keeping their current job. For many, it’s the best of both worlds. What we offer is a way to make that transition smooth, legal and personally meaningful – with local expertise instead of one-size-fits-all model.
TPN: Why are people coming to work in Portugal?
WB: Portugal has many advantages when compared internationally. There may not be one single statistic placing it at the very top, but if you look at the combination of quality of life, safety, climate and infrastructure, it’s hard to beat. What’s often missing is the flexibility from companies and institutions to make cross-border work easier. And that is where change is needed. And we are one of the forces making it happen.
TPN: Why are your services different from the other companies?
WB: What makes us different is that we are fully focused on Portugal. Not just legally, but culturally and operationally. My team and I bring years of experience in HR, outsourcing, and cross-border work. We've done this before, but now we are doing it with our own values.
We’re not here to scale for the sake of it, to sell, or to become the largest employer. We work with companies and individuals who care about long-term impact and not with those who just want to open a subsidiary or move IT to Portugal to cut costs.
We believe coming to Portugal should make sense for everyone involved: the person, the company and the country.
TPN: Can you describe your team?
WB: Our team brings many years of experience in immigration, financial structures, and administrative processes in Portugal. We have in-depth knowledge of how to work with institutions like the Instituto dos Registos e Notariado (IRN) and understand both the formal steps and the informal realities. We’re not just advisors – we’re on the ground, and we know who to talk to, where to go, and how to get things done efficiently.
With headquarters on Pico Island in the Azores and a strong presence in Portugal’s Centro region, PortuGer demonstrates that remote work doesn’t have to concentrate in Lisbon, Porto or the Algarve. The company supports the development of underrepresented regions by helping international teams relocate in a way that also benefits the local economy.
