In a statement by the Ministry of Environment and Energy highlights the inclusion of the Programme of Recovery and Resilience (PRR), the payment of €5,7 million aimed to projects within the scope of water resources, and €4,3 million linked to the sustainable bioeconomy.

There was also spent €6 million to promote circular bioeconomy and the innovation of the footwear’s sector, and more €1,7 million to projects related to energy efficiency in residential buildings.

The ministry also highlights the €36,6 million euros investment in public transports, throughout the whole country, “contributing to a more sustainable mobility e to the reduction of the emission of greenhouse gases”, says the Government.

“This financial performance reinforces the robust execution trajectory of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, which has led the mobilisation of PRR funds for areas such as climate, energy, water, biodiversity and the circular economy,” the statement said.

Quoted in the document, the Minister for the Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho, states: “We are implementing the PRR and the Environmental Fund with ambition, results on the ground and a focus on improving people's lives. These payments are not just numbers: they are investments that translate into cheaper travel passes, more efficient homes, more resilient territories and innovation that creates jobs and value in the country.”

Since last week, the Climate Agency has been coordinating the programmes financed through the Environmental Fund and the PRR.
