According to Diário de Notícias (DN), the agency also brought forward the renewal for the month of February.
Since July 2025, AIMA has allowed residence permits to be renewed monthly, in order to ensure that a large number of residence permits do not expire at the same time.
Extended validity
According to a publication by the agency, residence permits that expired up to June 30 of this year and were renewed at the Mission Structure remain valid until April 15, 2026. This right is provided for in Article 63, paragraph 14, of Regulatory Decree No. 84/2007 (see here).
According to AIMA, residence permits that expired by June 30, 2025, will be valid until April 15, 2026. However, the agency recommends that citizens continue to possess their expired permit, as well as their renewal application, which can also be accessed online.

We have residence permits that expire on January 31st and are unable to even register in the AIMA portal. We get a message saying we’re not known in the system/ or renewal isn’t available to us at this phase. Yet, people with February expiration are getting access to renewal. Why are these glitches still happening?

Who cares, they don't process them anyway. I applied in August, my kids - in November. This news is a joke on everyone, who came here legally, with residents visas, complied with all the rules and requirements, build a life, moved the business, and still is punished by the failed system.

Why open the system to 2026 when 2025 renewals are still pending? The Secretary of Immingration complimenting AIMA is ridiculous! 7th month and still waiting!
