The global electric vehicle market accelerated sharply in 2025, with a quarter of all new car sales worldwide now electric, according to energy think tank Ember.

This growth was fuelled by countries like Singapore and Vietnam, with EVs accounting for 40 percent of sales, while Indonesia and Thailand outpaced the US and Denmark in the first quarter of the year.
The analysis indicated a major shift in the EV landscape, noting that emerging markets are no longer trailing but leading the global transition to electric mobility.
