The event promises an afternoon of profound spirituality and musical excellence through the performance of the masterpiece "Stabat Mater" by Luigi Boccherini.

Organised by the cultural association Ideias do Levante, in partnership with the Municipality of Lagoa, the concert is supported by the Church Parish of São Francisco de Assis (Parchal). The performance will feature the renowned soprano Carla Pontes and the Al-Andaluz String Quintet.

A Masterpiece by Boccherini

The musicians will perform the "Stabat Mater", composed by Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805) in 1781 (G.532a), featuring the revision dated 1801 (G.532b, Op.61). The work consists of eleven movements that guide the listener through a deeply emotional musical narrative.

The Performers

  • Carla Pontes (Soprano): Carla has an exceptionally flexible voice and over the years has explored several musical styles. In recent years she has become best known as a lyrical coloratura soprano, performing mainly in the south of Portugal. She has broad experience in musical, fado, rock, pop, and classical, which together with her exceptional expressiveness and strong presence on stage make her a unique and versatile singer.
  • Al-Andaluz String Quintet: An ensemble of excellence composed of Alma Ramírez (violin 1), Savva Ivanovich (violin 2), Yekaterina Kuchinskaya (viola), Sunita Mamtani (cello), and Bruno Martins (double bass).
