“I could tell he was not happy, and then he appeared to have had a stroke. The vets kept him for tests and exams.” Many pet owners have been through this trauma, or will eventually have to have this experience with a feline or canine friend.

Jenny, President of Association for Protection of Animals Algarve (APAA), has had many pets in her lifetime and knows how sad it can be when facing the loss of an old, dearly loved pet. “Sometimes fighting for the dog or cat’s life is commendable. Vets are saving animals daily and enhancing our lives. But, sometimes we know deep inside the animal is going to die.”
Jimmy passed away quietly in his doggy-sleep shortly after the vet’s visits and traumatic time. “He had a good, long, happy life.” Jenny reflects. “Sadly, his latter days were confused and unpleasant. But we can only do the best for our little ones and just hope that quietly slipping away was less traumatic for Jimmy!”
In the meantime, Jenny has announced at their recent AGA that she will stand down as President next year when her final term completes. The work she does is varied and of her choosing. APAA are looking for an animal lover who wants to take the association into another decade of success and continue the work on behalf of the membership. “It can be as active as the individual wishes, or a job of representation and delegation.”
Interested? Please make contact with Jenny and meet to discuss what you would like to offer the association as President and to be part of a team. A good head and heart are all that is required to start! Jenny will be on hand to help the newcomer.
