The Sovereign Portuguese Student Art Prize 2026 is now officially open for public voting, with audiences invited to discover and support this year’s shortlisted young artists both online and in person.
Bringing together artworks created by students from schools across Portugal, the Prize celebrates creativity, originality and emerging artistic voices from a new generation of artists.
The first opportunity to experience the artworks in person will take place at the 2026 Sovereign Portuguese Student Art Prize Finalists Exhibition at Espaço JALI in Silves, Algarve, from 1–6 June 2026. Admission is free and the exhibition will present all shortlisted works together publicly for the first time.

Visitors will have the opportunity to view the artworks up close, learn more about the young artists behind the works, and vote for their favourite piece as part of the Public Vote Prize.
Alongside the exhibition, all artworks will also be available for purchase both online and in person. Proceeds from artwork sales will directly support both the young artists themselves and the Sovereign Art Foundation Portugal’s ongoing expressive arts and community programmes for children across Portugal.

The exhibition in Silves marks the first of three Student Prize exhibitions taking place throughout 2026 across the Algarve, Estremoz and Lisbon, reflecting the same three regions where the Sovereign Art Foundation Portugal delivers free art therapy initiatives and community workshops.
The Public Vote Prize awards €300 to the winning student artist, alongside an additional €800 for their school. A separate Judges’ Prize of €500 will also be awarded by the official judging panel, with €1,500 awarded to the winning student’s school.

Alongside the Student Prize, the Sovereign Art Foundation Portugal continues to expand its wider work across the country through expressive arts programmes, art therapy initiatives and artist-led community workshops designed to encourage creativity, confidence and connection through artistic practice.
The Foundation believes creativity should be accessible to everyone and hopes the Student Prize will continue helping create greater visibility and opportunities for young artists across Portugal.
