Traffic is suspended from kilometre 95.756, in Rede (Mesão Frio) and kilometre 102.581, in Peso da Régua, in the district of Vila Real.

CP – Comboios de Portugal is providing road transport for regional trains between Rede – Régua and for Interregional trains between Mosteiró - Régua.

In 2025, the modernisation and electrification works on the Douro Line between Marco de Canaveses and Peso da Régua will begin, with an investment of €110 million.

The project foresees the complete electrification of the approximately 47-kilometre stretch, with works expected to take place over three years (36 months), including three periods of interruption to rail traffic.

Currently, electrification of the Douro Line has been completed up to Marco de Canaveses (Porto district).
