In a video, Trump mentioned that John J. Arrigo chose to be an Ambassador in Portugal, and highlighted the golf courses in the country as the main criteria for Arrigo's decision.
Donald Trump even mentioned that he loves Portugal and that the USA feels the same connection with the country.
At the end of the video, Donald Trump offered his best wishes to Portugal, the Portuguese, and the people of the US, as well as to John J. Arrigo.

The US 250th anniversary is significant enough to justify a special message from President Trump to the US Ambassador to Portugal, highlighting the event and the importance US-Portugal relationship. Under the circumstances, this gesture hardly represent cause for joy or excitement as this is likely a template message sent to all US ambassador around the world.
One point worthy of nothing: apparently, the main criteria for Ambassador Arrigo choosing Portugal was the golf courses. It would seem that 15,000 to 16,000 golf courses in the US as of 2025 is not enough to satisfy anybody’s appetite for the sport. Additionally, it would appear that Portugal does not have any culture, any history, any architecture, any quality of life, and a whole lot of such aspects worthy of the slightest bit of interest and curiosity on the part of Ambassador Arrigo. On the positive side, I am convinced that Portugal and her people will display their customary courtesy and acceptance and they will understand Ambassador Arrigo’s extent of his search getting to know this great country.

I agree with those who have posted contempt and distrust of Donal tRump. However, he should be taken very seriously by Portugal and the rest of the world, for instead of leading the world to freedom he is leading the world to an oligarchical based fascism. He and his cronies, which include wealthy UUSA citizens like Elon Musk, but also leaders of fascists movements elsewhere in the world, such as André Ventura. He and his ilk are interested only in increasing their wealth and power, and are using ultra-nationalist sentiments all over the world to do so. They are not interested in anyone but themselves. Yet many people worship him, believing everything he says. He is the most dangerous person in the world.
