In a statement, Tekever described Cloudsweep as a Portuguese startup specialising in the use of artificial intelligence for software development, according to ECO News.

The company said the acquisition forms part of its strategy to strengthen Portugal’s innovation ecosystem by investing in emerging technology companies and attracting and retaining highly qualified talent.

Tekever added that the deal would also help accelerate the development of critical capabilities for Europe in artificial intelligence, software engineering and autonomous systems.

Strengthening AI capabilities

According to Tekever, the deal also builds on an internal technological transformation already underway, with AI integrated into its engineering processes to speed up the development of increasingly sophisticated defence, security and monitoring solutions.

The company said Cloudsweep’s expertise in applying AI to software development would gain international reach through its integration into Tekever, supporting the development of technologies produced in Portugal and used by governments and organisations across Europe.

Growth strategy

Tekever said the acquisition reinforces its commitment to the growth of Portugal’s technology sector by supporting emerging companies, integrating highly specialised teams and creating opportunities for Portuguese talent to contribute to the development of strategic technologies.

The company employs more than 1,300 people and operates in Portugal, the United Kingdom, France, Estonia, Ukraine and the United States.
