In a statement, the local authority announced the launch of a tender for the refurbishment of the road connecting the roundabout providing access to the Tortosendo industrial park to the roundabout on the TCT axis (Teixoso-Covilhã-Tortosendo), with a projected investment exceeding € 1 million.

This project, now put out to tender, includes the construction of an access section to the future GNR (National Republican Guard) station, which is currently under construction. The base value of the tender is 997,386 euros, plus VAT. The project has a completion timeframe of 300 days.

The refurbishment of this road complements the repaving of the road between the Operário roundabout—located near the National Association of Wool Manufacturers (ANIL) pavilion—and General Humberto Delgado Street in Canhoso, as well as the section between National Road 18 and the Canhoso industrial park; the contract for the latter has already been awarded for a total of 688,692 euros, plus VAT.

Regarding the newly launched tender, the Mayor of Covilhã explained that it is "an important project aimed at providing that road with better traffic conditions."

Hélio Fazendeiro reiterated that this project "is part of a series of interventions the municipality is carrying out to improve traffic conditions in the area, including repairs to various roads, some of which are already underway."
