The Dutch chain officially opened its latest outlet in Fundão on Thursday, 17 July, as the Castelo Branco district receives its second Action store.

Located on Rua Cidade da Covilhã, this new branch has created 14 jobs, covering 864 square metres and is open daily from 9am to 9pm.

International products

The shelves are stocked with around 6,000 products spanning 14 different categories, where customers can browse homeware, kitchen essentials, toys, school supplies, decorative items, gardening tools, and much more.

According to Action, the store introduces around 150 products every week, with the average price of items across its range remaining below €2.

In addition to household goods, shoppers can also find a selection of food and drink, including snacks, biscuits, confectionery, soft drinks and juices, featuring both familiar brands and international products that are less commonly found in Portugal.

Retail concept

Sofia Mendonça, Action’s General Manager in Portugal, said the company was pleased to open in Fundão just over two years after launching in the Portuguese market.

She also stated the retailer had received a warm welcome from customers and was delighted to bring its low-cost retail concept to more communities, adding that the company’s continued growth reflects both its business model and the commitment of its employees.

On 29 February 2024, Action entered the Portuguese market with the opening of its first store in Vila Nova de Gaia, and since then, it has expanded steadily across the country as demand for its low-priced household and everyday products has continued to grow.

Founded in the Netherlands, Action now operates more than 3,300 stores across 15 European countries and welcomes more than 22 million customers every week.
