The café is located on Armação de Pêra's main promenade, just a few metres from the beach.

With a children's playground just a short walk away, this café is also a great choice for families.

Open all year round, Gato Lambareiro has been welcoming customers for around 10 years. Last year, the café expanded its menu, adding new options alongside its popular crêpes, sandwiches, salads and cocktails. Today, the menu also includes poke bowls, yoghurt bowls, pinsas and special cold drinks.

The atmosphere changes with the seasons. During the quieter winter months, it's a peaceful place to stop for a coffee and something sweet, while in summer it quickly fills up from breakfast through to late evening.

The display counter features a daily selection of traditional Portuguese pastries. Ice cream is also on the menu, and you can enjoy it on the beach or sit down with one of the café's ice cream cups.

There is plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the promenade, and throughout our visit, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and happy to help.

Our recommendation? The croissants are definitely worth trying. Choose from combinations such as Nutella with fresh strawberries, mascarpone with red fruits, or keep it traditional with the Portuguese favourite, croissant de creme de ovo. We also recommend the refreshing mint coffee, especially on a hot summer day.

Best for: Breakfast by the sea, coffee and cake, families with children, a light lunch or a relaxed stop during a stroll along Armação de Pêra's promenade.

Open: Daily, all year round.
