The “RoadPol – Speed” campaign will focus primarily on main routes (IP), complementary routes (IC), and motorways, a GNR source told Lusa.

Officers may also be present at “black spots” located within built-up areas in the GNR’s jurisdiction, the source added.

Last year, the force monitored over 20.5 million vehicles and “recorded more than 94,000 speeding violations,” the GNR stated in a press release.

The operation, which aims to “promote road safety and safeguard human lives,” is being conducted “within the framework of the European Roads Policing Network (RoadPol).” The GNR encourages all drivers to adhere to posted speed limits and to exercise increased caution during this campaign, as compliance is essential for reducing accidents and ensuring the safety of all road users.
