In a statement, the IPMA informs that the warning is valid between 10am on 6 August and 10pm on 8 August, due to the forecast of hot weather, "especially inland".

The district has been under a yellow warning for several days, the least severe of a three-level scale, which is issued when there is a risk to certain activities dependent on weather conditions.

On the other hand, a dozen municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Santarém and Faro face a maximum fire risk today, on a day when the maximum temperature inland is expected to rise.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) also places around 80 municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Vila Real, Viseu, Coimbra, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Santarém, Leiria, Beja and Faro at very high risk.

The entire Alentejo region and more than 40 municipalities in the districts of Vila Real, Porto, Viseu, Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém, Lisbon and Faro are at high risk.
