Rede Expressos has introduced new stops in Comporta, Carvalhal, Melides, and Alcácer do Sal on a route between Lisbon and Sines, which will also pass through Setúbal and Santo André.

The new route will begin operating on 1 September and “represents another step in the expansion of Rede Expressos in the region, responding to the approximately 60% increase in demand between Lisbon Oriente and Sines in the first half of this year, compared to the same period in 2025, as well as the growing number of requests submitted by local authorities and passengers in recent months,” according to a statement sent to The Portugal News.

The company says that Comporta, Carvalhal and Melides “have assumed an increasingly greater projection at the national and international level, attracting tourists and a growing number of workers, driven by the development of tourism, real estate and construction projects.” This growth, the company reveals, has led to changes in mobility needs, mainly because it is an area highly dependent on individual transport.

The new route

In the case of Alcácer do Sal, the new stop “accompanies the growing residential and economic dynamism, marked by the development of new ventures and the planned requalification of the Bus Station.”

There will be two daily connections in each direction, i.e., from Lisbon to Sines departures will take place at 10 am and 6:15 pm. In the opposite direction, buses will depart at 6 am and 2 pm.

Nelson Silva, general director of Rede Expressos, states that “the reinforcement of operations on the Alentejo Coast is part of Rede Expressos' strategy to continuously adjust the offer to the evolution of demand and the new dynamics of the territories, promoting more direct and economical connections and encouraging the use of the bus as a more sustainable alternative to individual transport.”

Tickets are already available for sale, with prices starting at €2.95, originating from or destined for the new stops.
