According to the IPMA, the yellow warning, issued due to persistently high maximum temperatures, will be in effect until 6:00pm today in the districts of Bragança and Vila Real (in the north) and Guarda and Castelo Branco (in the centre).

Also, due to the hot weather, a yellow warning is in effect until 6:00pm today for the north and south coasts of Madeira and for the island of Porto Santo.

A yellow warning, the least severe on a three-level scale, indicates a risk for certain weather-dependent activities and requires people to stay alert to changing weather conditions.

For the mainland, the IPMA forecasts mostly clear or sunny skies today, with periods of increased cloudiness along the west coast until mid-morning and a slight drop in maximum temperatures.

Maximum temperatures will range from 25 degrees Celsius in Porto and Aveiro to 38 degrees in Bragança.

For the Madeira archipelago, the IPMA forecasts periods of very cloudy skies with generally light showers, most likely on the northern slopes and highlands of Madeira Island, and a slight drop in maximum temperatures.

Maximum temperatures will hover around 29 degrees in Funchal and 28 degrees in Porto Santo.
