An easy solution specifically designed for pet-owners who really care for their friendly furry ones.

“The problem is when someone becomes very ill or suddenly dies and there are pets involved.” Sid Richardson CIC of Animal Rescue Algarve has tailor-made a simple 5-step solution to the worst nagging problem we could face.

“Indeed, what happens to our pets?” Jenny Clarke President of Association for Protection of Animals Algarve (APAA) and Anita Wight, both signed up with ARA’s Legacy Pet Plan for their pets. APAA fully endorse ARA’s Pet Plan for many reasons. “It is peace of mind knowing that when something happens, a tragedy, that the pets don’t become part of it…”

ARA’s website has a section devoted to the project and whilst browsing around ARA’s facility ‘Cabanita’ Nr. Loulé, you can see how wonderful this purpose-built animal shelter really is. Obviously, family and friends will try and rally around to help out but sometimes taking on someone else’s pets is not a consideration.

The alternative? There are local Canils but they are really huge, horrible places to be considered as the last resort. They do the best they can under-funded and with little practical help. But is that what you want for your pet? The ARA team are dedicated to ensuring that any animal in their care is checked out fully by the vet, on site, and given all the right emotional and medicinal help to be finally re-homed happily with a new life.

The first and best thing to do and the most important is to go the ARA website. They are a bona-fide charity. A purpose-built shelter for abandoned pets where their care and re-homing is a priority. Second – study their ‘Legacy Pet Plan’. Third – Talk to someone about the plan, any worries you may have.

“We have signed up 25 pet-owners with several more in finalisation stages. It’s not an easy decision to make, but once made, it is a huge relief. And you know it will mean your pets get a good life after you’ve gone. Perhaps thinking ahead, positively for your pets is a big ask.
