With 32.7% of subscribers, streaming services for movies, series and sports are the most popular in the EU.

With 23% of internet users as subscribers, music streaming services came in second in paid subscribers.

Online news sites, newspapers or magazines had 7.2% of subscribers in the EU in 2025, and 6.1% were subscribed to a game streaming service, according to data from the EU statistical service.

Among EU member states, Ireland and Denmark recorded the highest percentages of internet users with paid subscriptions to streaming services for movies, series or sports, with 63.9% and 61.1%, respectively. The Netherlands followed with 59.2%.

In contrast, only 9.3% of internet users in Bulgaria paid for this type of subscription.

Slovenia (13.7%), Latvia (16.7%) and Lithuania (17.4%) also stood out among EU countries with the lowest percentages of individuals subscribing to streaming services for movies, series or sports.

Portugal, with 22% of paid subscribers, ranked 19th among the 27 Member States.
