Launched by the Ministry of Culture with volunteer support, the Mobile Cultural Bus reaches areas with little access to libraries or creative spaces. The project has already reached thousands of children, offering opportunities for learning, creativity and play in communities recovering from years of conflict.

The project currently operates two converted buses carrying books, learning materials, art supplies and puppet theatres. Its first phase covered 39 areas around Damascus before expanding to other provinces, including Homs. Demand continues to exceed capacity. More than 2.5 million children remain out of school across Syria, while nearly 8,000 schools require urgent rehabilitation, according to Unicef’s 2026 humanitarian appeal.
