The new service starts on 11 September and will operate through the existing route between Lisbon and Elvas. The buses will stop in Montemor-o-Novo, Évora, Estremoz, Borba and Elvas before crossing the border into Spain.

Although Badajoz was already part of the international routes offered by Rede Expressos, it will now become more closely connected with the company’s Portuguese network. This means passengers travelling from Spain will also be able to continue their journey to other destinations across Portugal.

The company said the new route is intended to meet the regular demand for travel between Badajoz and the Alentejo, particularly among people crossing the border for work. It will also provide another affordable option for tourism, shopping and short breaks.

Two buses will run in each direction every day. Departures from Badajoz to Lisbon are scheduled for 7:15 am and 1:30 pm, while buses will leave Lisbon at 2:30pm and 5:30pm.

The route will also offer connections to Lisbon Airport, making it easier for passengers from Badajoz and the Alentejo to reach the capital’s main airport.

Tickets and complete schedules are already available through the Rede Expressos website. Prices start at €10 when purchased online and may vary depending on the journey and booking date.
