The day before this Group A4 Matchday 3 encounter, Portugal has a session scheduled for 6:00 pm local time (5:00 pm in Lisbon), with the first 15 minutes open to the media.

On Tuesday, Ronaldo was present at Eleda Stadium in Malmö, where the national team set up camp ahead of the Denmark match, but did not take part in training; neither did João Félix, who was undergoing recovery work, nor the injured Francisco Conceição.

While the session was still underway, the national team captain left the venue and returned to the hotel where the Portuguese squad is staying in Sweden’s third-largest city to work out at the gym.

Last Sunday in Oslo, Ronaldo remained on the bench during the Matchday 2 game against Norway (2-1) and left the pitch looking somewhat dissatisfied immediately after the final whistle, failing to join his teammates in acknowledging the Portuguese fans in the stadium.

This means national team coach Jorge Jesus faces a difficult decision for the match against Denmark: restoring Ronaldo to the starting lineup would require breaking up the João Félix-Gonçalo Ramos partnership, which performed excellently in Oslo and scored Portugal’s goals.

Before the training session, at 17:00 (16:00), also at Parken, the national team head coach and a player yet to be named will speak to journalists at the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Denmark.

Portugal leads Group A4 with six points, compared to three each for Norway and Denmark, while Wales has zero points.

Denmark vs Portugal is scheduled for 20:45 (19:45) and will be officiated by Ukrainian referee Mykola Balakin.
