The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Portimão is being developed in the former Hotel Tropimar, which had fallen into disrepair after remaining unused for a long period.

The building has now undergone extensive renovation and, although an official opening date has not yet been announced, the work appears to be nearly complete.

As reported by Algarve Marafado, the new hotel will offer 60 rooms and suites, providing accommodation for visitors who prefer to stay in the city centre rather than close to the beaches.

Guests will also have access to a heated outdoor swimming pool, a lobby lounge area and a terrace bar.

Central location

One of the hotel's main advantages is its central location, within walking distance of local shops, restaurants and other services.

Visitors will be able to explore Portimão on foot, while the municipality's popular beaches, including Praia da Rocha, are only a short drive away.

The project also represents the recovery of a building that had been left unused for years, giving it a new purpose in the city's tourism sector.

The hotel will add to Portimão's existing accommodation options, at a time when several other hotel developments are also taking place across the municipality.

While the building appears ready to welcome guests, the opening date has yet to be confirmed.
