According to the quick estimate released by National Statistics Institute (INE), “based on the information already established, the year-on-year rate of change of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) will have increased to 5.3% in March (4.2% in February)”.
“This is the highest value since June 1994”.
The underlying inflation indicator (total index excluding unprocessed food and energy products) registered a variation of 3.8% (3.2% in the previous month).
As for the year-on-year rate of change of the energy products index, INE estimates it to be 19.8% in March (15.0% in the previous month), the “highest value since February 1991”.
The final data referring to the CPI for the month of March 2022 will be published by INE on 12 April.
