Lisbon is the municipality with the highest level of education among salaried workers, with an average of 13.2 years of schooling, according to Pordata.

Castro Verde (Beja), mainly due to the Neves Corvo mines, "is the municipality where employees earned the most in 2023: 2,479.1 euros," with Penedono (Viseu) at the opposite extreme, being "where employees earned the least in 2023: 952.9 euros."

"The municipalities that recorded the greatest increase in average monthly earnings between 2021 and 2023 were Gavião (Portalegre) and Corvo (Azores), rising from 858.2 euros to 1,252.5 euros in the former (a rate of change of 45.9%), and from 1,060.7 euros to 1,500.1 euros in the latter (41.4%).

Next on this list are Santa Cruz das Flores (Azores), with growth of 27.5% (1,163.1 euros to 1,482.6 euros), Mortágua (Viseu), with 25.5% (1,065.6 euros to 1,337.1 euros) and Alcoutim (Faro), with 23.8% (925.5 euros to 1,145.8 euros).

At the opposite end of the spectrum is Cinfães, which was the only municipality to record a negative growth rate (-5.1%) in average monthly earnings, falling from €1,138.3 to €1,080.7 between 2021 and 2023.

In positive territory, but with the lowest growth rates, are Porto Santo (Madeira), with growth of 1.6% (€1,323.5 to €1,345.1), Cuba (Beja), with 2.5% (€1,083.3 to €1,110.8), Ribeira de Pena (Vila Real), with 4.2% (€1,158.3 to €1,206.7), and Mesão Frio (Vila Real), with 4.8% (€982.7 to €1,029.5).

The data also states that "Cinfães and Mesão Frio were the municipalities where the salary increase between 2021 and 2023, in percentage terms, was most favorable to women," and Gavião and Santa Cruz das Flores, where "it was most favorable to men."

Vila Velha de Ródão (Castelo Branco) is the municipality where the four largest companies have the most influence in terms of turnover, at 89%, and Campo Maior (Portalegre) is where the four largest companies employ the most people, proportionally, at 66.6%.
