In the rankings of the 38 OECD countries, last year, the UK dropped to 25th place, staying five places below the previous ranking.
The results of the 2024 ranking can be explained by the contributions paid by employers, which some considered to be a jobs tax, which is combined with the capital gains tax. The measures were applied by the Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
Other countries like Costa Rica (23rd), Chile (24th) and Portugal (21st) are part of the countries with the greatest taxes, as mentioned in a report by CPS.
