According to the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the requirement remains that the vehicle purchased be new, as well as the requirement to “scrap off a fossil fuel car that is more than 10 years old”.

Light electric passenger vehicles can receive between four thousand and five thousand euros, depending on the type of beneficiary, and their price cannot exceed 38,500 euros (including VAT and associated expenses) or 55,000 euros for vehicles with more than five seats.

In the case of bicycles (cargo bikes, with or without electric assistance, and electric and conventional), the support amount varies between €500 and €1,500, while motorcycles, mopeds, tricycles and electric quadricycles can receive incentives of up to a maximum of €1,500.

Chargers for electric vehicle batteries are also eligible for support.

The measure, included in the Green Mobility package, "aims to support the decarbonisation of the transport sector, responsible for the largest share of carbon emissions in Portugal," as well as "improve the quality of the environment and encourage the use of more sustainable modes of mobility," according to the ministry.
