Investigators say the case involved coordinated planning across multiple actors and jurisdictions. International law-enforcement cooperation has been part of the investigation into what has been described as the largest gold heist in Canadian history.

Canadian police say the heist involved a cargo shipment arriving from Zurich that went missing from Pearson Airport and was reported stolen the following day. Investigators allege two groups were involved: Air Canada employees and outside accomplices. Warrants remain outstanding for two suspects, including a former Air Canada employee.
