Statistics Canada data showed sales increased steadily from January to March, while industry analysts said lower ownership costs and purchase incentives have encouraged more Canadians to consider switching to electric vehicles.

The federal government reintroduced incentives in February, offering up to 5,000 Canadian dollars for fully electric vehicles and up to 2,500 Canadian dollars for hybrids. Industry analysts said the incentives, combined with higher fuel prices, have made EVs more affordable.
Cost has become less of a concern, although charging infrastructure and driving range remain barriers for some buyers.
