The initiative, known as the “House of Life,” uses land lent by the Jewish community to grow fruit and medicinal plants. The nurseries help address climate challenges, including deforestation, erosion and food insecurity. The project aims to reduce rural poverty, support agriculture, and revive interfaith cooperation.

The initiative began in a village near Marrakech, where a 700-year-old cemetery now hosts a nursery producing tens of thousands of saplings annually. Since 2012, nearly 300,000 tree saplings have been grown and distributed to around 1,500 farming families. The High Atlas Foundation supports the project by training farmers and building infrastructure such as water wells. The model is expanding across Morocco, although land ownership issues remain a barrier to wider rollout.
