Starting 18 June, the public will be able to embark on a detailed, immersive route that crosses the history, myths, and sacred landscapes of Machu Picchu, without ever leaving Terreiro do Paço.

This new cultural experience proposes a walking tour through one of the most iconic landscapes, a UNESCO World Heritage site, utilising cutting-edge mapping and 3D historical reconstruction tools.

The project was developed entirely in collaboration with Virtual Worlds, a creative studio specialising in immersive experiences based on free movement, in which the space.

Dubbed "Machu Picchu: Journey to the Lost City," the initiative uses large-scale virtual reality glasses and a cinematic narrative to guide visitors through agricultural terraces, ancestral dwellings, and mountain paths, replicated from geographic data collected by drones, photogrammetry, and LiDAR technology, a laser scanning system capable of creating 3D maps with millimetre precision.

The sensory and narrative component seeks to capture the scale and mystical atmosphere of the Andean civilisation.

Among the moments designed for total participant immersion are the simulation of a shared flight with condors over the Andean ridges and the reconstruction of the atmosphere inside an Inca dwelling during a rare solar eclipse. The entire experience was planned to reconcile archaeological accuracy with visual entertainment.

This new launch follows directly from "Horizon of Cheops: Journey to Ancient Egypt," an immersive adventure that opened in Lisbon in November 2025 and has become a commercial success, attracting over 30,000 visitors.

With this portfolio transition, the cultural space at Terreiro do Paço renews its technological entertainment offering, allowing users to travel from Pharaonic Egypt to the Andes Mountains in the same geographical location.

The experience is estimated to last 45 minutes and is rated for a minimum age of 10 years, requiring adult supervision for minors. Tickets for the sessions, which begin in the second half of June, are now available for purchase through the Fever event platform's app and official website.
