Rehabilitation and enhancement interventions of port and logistics infrastructure have been carried out in recent months, explained the Ports of Sines and Algarve Administration (APS) in a statement.

Among the actions already completed, the port administration highlighted "the repair of concrete structures" on the quay of the Port of Services, thus completing the rehabilitation of the "berthing quays" of that infrastructure.

According to the APS, the maritime repair and rehabilitation intervention of the Port of Sines was also completed, which included the "recovery of the various lighthouses and maritime signalling bays".

With these works, the port administration intends to "strengthen the safety of maritime traffic associated with the various terminals and berthing areas in the port".

These interventions also contribute to "the prevention of accidents and, consequently, to the efficiency of port operations," he stressed.

In the context of modernising port infrastructure, a public tender will be launched for the structural rehabilitation contract of berths 9 and 10 of the Petrochemical Terminal.

"This intervention aims to ensure the rehabilitation of this berthing quay, in order to guarantee the useful life of this infrastructure, as well as the continuity of port operations without restrictions," the statement reads.

In addition to these investments, the Monte Chãos quarry, in the municipality of Sines, was officially legalised by the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG), he added.

For the port administration, this is "a fundamental resource" to "guarantee future maritime expansion works."

The investment of approximately 1.35 million euros reflects "APS's continuous commitment to improving and modernising port infrastructure," as well as "operational conditions and their safety, boosting the competitiveness of the Alentejo port."
