According to Sojern's analysis, flight bookings to Portugal for the summer period have so far increased by 20% compared to 2025. Hotel searches have increased by 18%.

Performance yet to be realised

Despite the positive performance, the search still needs to be realised, as revealed by Sojern.

According to the platform, 38% of summer flight bookings have not yet been made, and the same applies to 53% of hotel bookings, indicating that the tourism market still has room for growth in the coming weeks. The possibility of these factors can also be explained as travellers follow developments in international politics, which may have a positive impact on tourism plans for the high season.

Increase in flight bookings

The analysis also shows that flight bookings to Portugal have grown in all source markets.

Regarding the European market, flight bookings to Portugal grew by 23%, while bookings from other continents grew by 9%.

The study also reveals an 81% year-on-year increase in the homologous market, demonstrating that the Portuguese are increasingly interested in travelling within their own country.

Source markets

In the external market, flight bookings to Portugal increased during the summer season, with the United States in first place, accounting for 16.5% of bookings. Next come Germany and the United Kingdom with 13% and 8%, respectively, followed by Portugal (7.5%) and Canada (6.6%).

The growth in demand for hotels is also led by the United States, which accounts for 22% of demand. Portugal, the United Kingdom, and France appear with increases of 13.1%, 10.7%, and 10.7%, respectively. Spain closes the top five with 7.4%.
