Artificial intelligence, robotic surgery and hybrid operating rooms will place the new unit among the most advanced private hospital infrastructures in the country.

The fourth Lusíadas unit in the south of the country is presented today at Palácio Fialho, in Faro, at an event with the Mayor of Faro, institutional representatives, the business community and civil society.

For 25 years caring for the Algarve, Lusíadas Saúde is today taking a step that consolidates this relationship for the next generation: the Lusíadas Faro Hospital, a 60 million euro investment that is born with a clear objective of being the natural destination for private health care for those who live, work or visit the region. With its opening scheduled for the end of 2027, the new unit is not only the largest and most technologically advanced private hospital in the Algarve: it is a declaration that, in healthcare, the Algarve is now speaking Lusíadas.

The new hospital is aligned with the principles of Medicine 3.0, a vision of medicine that is more preventive, personalised, and person-centred. The Lusíadas Group is thus debuting a new paradigm in the Algarve, which places health and well-being – and not just illness – at the centre of care, focusing on prevention, early detection, and monitoring each person throughout their entire health journey. It is this vision, supported by talent and cutting-edge technology, that will allow the Lusíadas Saúde network in the Algarve to fully serve almost half a million people in the region.

"Since the beginning of this century, Lusíadas Saúde has been growing alongside the Algarve. The Lusíadas Faro Hospital reflects this long-term commitment to the region: an investment that reinforces the capacity to respond to the growing demand for differentiated healthcare, contributes to attracting and retaining qualified talent, and consolidates Lusíadas Saúde as a benchmark for private healthcare in the Algarve," says Vasco Antunes Pereira, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of the Lusíadas Saúde Group.

Technology: Artificial Intelligence, robotic surgery, and hybrid operating rooms

The Lusíadas Faro Hospital was designed to establish itself as a national benchmark in clinical and technological innovation, bringing together some of the most advanced solutions currently available in healthcare delivery.

Designed to meet the challenges of medicine in the coming decades, the unit will integrate artificial intelligence solutions applied to clinical decision support and diagnosis, allowing for more precise and personalised care, and raising the standards of quality, safety, and experience for citizens.

In the surgical area, the hospital will be equipped with robotic surgery systems and hybrid operating rooms, which combine surgery and advanced imaging in the same space, allowing for highly complex and less invasive procedures, with better clinical results and faster recoveries.

With this investment, Hospital Lusíadas Faro positions itself at the forefront of clinical and technological innovation, placing the Algarve among the most advanced regions in the country in the provision of differentiated healthcare.

Talent: the largest investment in people in the Algarve

The Lusíadas Saúde Group is not only building Hospital Lusíadas Faro. It is creating the conditions to guarantee the largest network of healthcare specialists in the south of the country. The new unit will create around 500 new qualified jobs, reinforcing the region's capacity to attract and retain medical, nursing and technical talent, one of the biggest challenges in the healthcare sector in the Algarve, aggravated by tourist seasonality.

"The Algarve loses talent every year to other regions and outside of Portugal. With the Lusíadas Faro Hospital, we want to reverse this trend: to offer the best professionals a benchmark clinical project, state-of-the-art technology, and the conditions to grow here, in the region where they currently live," adds Vasco Antunes Pereira, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Lusíadas Saúde Group.

The hospital: the most advanced unit in the network in the Algarve

Built from scratch in the Lejana de Baixo area, in Faro, with approximately 8,500 m² distributed over five floors, the Lusíadas Faro Hospital will have:

• 35 consulting rooms

• Five operating rooms

• A state-of-the-art Imaging area

• 13 examination rooms

• 28 inpatient rooms

• Intensive care unit

• Gastroenterology unit

• Permanent care for adults and children

Oral health will be provided by HeyDoc, the Group's dental clinic brand.

The unit joins the Lusíadas Albufeira Hospital, the Lusíadas Vilamoura Hospital, and the Lusíadas Faro Clinic, bringing the number of the Group's units in the region to four.

In full operation, the Lusíadas Faro Hospital will perform more than 400,000 consultations and more than 7,500 surgeries per year. Currently, the Lusíadas Saúde network in the Algarve already provides healthcare services to approximately 300,000 people, including residents and tourists.

The project is being officially presented today at the Fialho Palace in Faro, at an event that brings together institutional, business and social representatives from the region. The session, with the presence of the Mayor, Dr. António Pina, also includes the panel discussion "Algarve, a region that attracts, cares for and grows", with the participation of personalities from the tourism, academia and civil society sectors.

The Lusíadas Faro Hospital is part of Lusíadas Saúde's sustained growth strategy, which has been developing new solutions in the hospital, outpatient, home care, oral health, preventive care, and sports medicine areas, reinforcing its ability to support people at different stages of their lives.
