In the Algarve, there are many beauty salons offering all kinds of treatments, but for me, Viktoria and her permanent makeup have stood out for several years now. I used to have permanent makeup done in my home country, and since it lasts a long time, I don’t take it lightly. You really need to trust the person you go to.

When I first moved here, I didn’t know much about beauty services in the Algarve, so I asked a friend for a recommendation. That’s how I found Viktoria, and I was impressed straight away. Her work speaks for itself. Over the years, she has grown from being a beautician into someone who now runs her own salon and is regularly invited to speak at beauty workshops, sharing her experience with others.


A Journey That Wasn’t Always Easy

Her story becomes even more interesting when you learn about her background. She is a mother of two and has built her life here from scratch. When she moved to Portugal 14 years ago, she didn’t speak the language. She started working as a cleaner, and later as a waitress in a beach restaurant. Despite having studied sociology and piano at a conservatory, she had to adapt quickly and find her place in a completely new environment.

She later worked in another beach restaurant, where she was trusted to manage daily operations. But after becoming pregnant with her second child, she realised that the long hours and demanding summer schedules were not something she wanted long-term. That was the moment she decided to make a change.


Discovering Micropigmentation

She had always been interested in beauty and cosmetics, so she started with online makeup courses, at first just for herself. Not long after, she discovered micropigmentation and immediately felt that this was something she truly enjoyed. From that point, she began investing in her education, training internationally in countries such as the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, and Russia.

Three years ago, she opened her own salon. Today, she offers not only micropigmentation, but also facials, lash extensions, brow design, and more. She continues to follow new trends and techniques and is often invited to speak at workshops, where she shares her knowledge.

Precision, Practice, and Confidence

I was curious about how she started, especially because these procedures require precision and confidence. Viktoria explained that while courses give you the theory, real skill comes with practice. She worked in an aesthetic clinic before opening her own place and always felt confident in what she was doing.

There are certain rules every professional follows, but she emphasises that every face is different. That is what makes her work both challenging and rewarding, as each treatment must be tailored to each patient.

A Natural Approach to Beauty

When I asked her about current trends, she highlighted the shift towards a natural look. The goal is to subtly enhance your features, creating that effortless “I woke up like this” look.

Why Choose Micropigmentation

So why choose micropigmentation? “It is mainly about saving time and feeling confident. You wake up already looking your best. In the summer, your makeup doesn’t melt, which many of us in the Algarve can relate to.”

If you are using an eyebrow pencil, you often find yourself checking if it is still in place. Micropigmentation removes that daily worry and makes things much easier.

She also explained how long the results usually last, though this depends on skin type. Eyebrows typically last between two and three years. Lips can last up to five or six years, although several sessions are often needed to achieve a deeper colour. Eyeliner can last for many years and fades gradually over time.

The procedure itself takes about 2 hours, and a follow-up appointment a few weeks later is recommended. During that visit, Viktoria checks how the pigment has settled and whether any touch-ups are needed.


Giving Back Through Her Work

Viktoria also offers paramedical micropigmentation, including treatments for breast cancer survivors. This involves creating a very realistic 3D areola and nipple effect after surgery, helping to restore a more natural look. It’s something she does free of charge, which says a lot about her approach and how she uses her work to give back.

Recognition and Teaching

She regularly attends international congresses to stay up to date with new techniques and trends. Over time, she has built a strong reputation in the micropigmentation world. Being fluent in English, Russian, Ukrainian, and Portuguese, she is often invited to speak at these events and share her expertise.

Interestingly, she told me that she was not always confident speaking in public. But she believes that if something scares you, the best thing you can do is try. Over time, she built that confidence and is now comfortable speaking in front of audiences, even in a language that is not her native one.

In addition to her work with clients, Viktoria also teaches. Many of her students have gone on to become professionals themselves. She keeps her training groups small, usually just two people for micropigmentation, so she can really focus on each student. At the end of the course, they receive a proper certification, allowing them to start working in the field with confidence.

Her work has also been recognised internationally. She has received awards at prestigious beauty competitions, including one in Cannes with participants from all over the world, as well as another competition focused on lash lifting held in Spain.


A Final Message

At the end of our conversation, I asked her what message she would give to women. Her answer was simple but honest. She said that many women struggle with self-confidence and often rely too much on makeup. But in her view, women are already beautiful as they are.

Women need to believe more in themselves. Love yourself as you are right now, because you are enough.
