A worker earning Nu 30,000 contributes just Nu 300 a month, which is enough to provide four doses of a vaccine protecting newborns against five life-threatening diseases. Introduced through the Bhutan Health Trust Fund, the contribution is paid by both public and private sector employees.


Alongside investment returns and donations, it helps finance essential drugs and vaccines, strengthening the sustainability of Bhutan’s universal healthcare system while reducing dependence on external funding. The scheme supports the country’s long-term healthcare system.
