These interruptions stem from scheduled work by utility operators for technical maintenance, network leak repairs, and pipeline disinfection.

In the Algarve

In the Algarve, the most prolonged disruption affects the municipality of Olhão, where intermittent cuts are expected on Rua Associação 18 de Maio and in the Horta do Pádua area between August 3 and 7 (from 9 am to 6 pm), alongside a specific interruption on Rua das Cotovias during the morning of 4 August.

Meanwhile, in Silves, a supply cut is scheduled for the overnight period between August 5 and 6 (from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am), covering the Messines de Baixo and Portela de Messines areas for pipeline flushing and disinfection.

Other parts of the country

The largest-scale operation nationwide will take place in the Alentejo region; the city of Moura will experience a total supply suspension on 4 August (from 6 am to 4 pm) due to general repair work on the distribution network. Service disruptions will also occur that same day in Vendas Novas and in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, Madeira.

The work schedule extends to other areas of the country throughout the week. On 3 August, service suspensions will occur in Samora Correia (Benavente), Santarém, Funchal, Santa Maria da Feira, Vila Nova de Famalicão, and Torres Novas. Starting on the 5th, work will focus on the António Sérgio neighbourhood and Rua Luís António Firmino in Vendas Novas—with operations on the latter street scheduled to continue until 14 August. On 6 August, work will move to the Magoito area in the municipality of Sintra, and on 7 August to Palhagueiras in the municipality of Torres Vedras, for maintenance on the elevated water tank.

Reserving water

In light of the announced disruptions, water utility operators recommend that residents in the affected areas set aside a reserve supply of water for basic needs. They also advise that, once the supply is restored, the water be allowed to run for a few moments until it regains its usual clarity.
