The company responsible for those plastic bottle and can bins that pay you 10 cents every time you use them has launched an app, named Volta€. With this new app, the 10 cents can be deposited directly into your bank account.

The feature is being rolled out in large events such as the latest Rock in Rio festival.

Volta has explained that the app has been designed specifically to work within event conditions where automatic Volta Points are located that have compatibility with the app.

Reinforcing coverage

The Volta€ app will also have compatibility with Volta Kiosks, a new type of machine being introduced that are currently operational in Albufeira, Barcelos, Vila Nova de Famalicão, Funchal, and Ponta Delgada.

These are designed to handle larger volumes at once, and unlike the classic Volta Points you see at supermarkets, these are managed directly by the parent company.

Volta plans to open 50 Volta Kiosks, spread across 38 municipalities, reinforcing the coverage of the Deposit and Return System.
