We wonder if there is anything we can do for them. Our special friend. With their passing, we hope that their nearest and dearest will be able to cope. With illness, we can help when needed, can’t we? But what if the special friend is a ’pet’ that has been left behind?
“I can’t take another dog/cat on, my hands are full already!” Or, perhaps, you can find room in your home and heart for a furry lodger, but only for a few days. Weeks? When all is well, we love our furry pals to distraction. We cannot do enough for them. But what happens to them when we can no longer care for them?
Animal Rescue Algarve (ARA)’s solution is ‘Legacy Pet Plan’. “It was one of my pet problems. What happens to our loving animals when we go, or are too ill to look after them? After all, I have several of my own? Can I expect someone else to suddenly step in and take them all?” ~
Sid Richardson’s Shelter at ‘Cabanita’ is heaven-sent for our four-pawed abandoned friends. “No. I certainly wouldn’t. How can you expect family and close friends to take on such a monumental task at a time when their thoughts are elsewhere!” Indeed. He knows ‘Legacy Pet Plan’ works, and it is a safe and sure way to guarantee your furry friends’ future is a happy and enduring one. “Once the paperwork is done, we can rest easy that all will roll into place… An appointed ‘Guardian’ will inform ARA of the situation and we will then take responsibility.”

The care of an animal is not just feeding, it is loving, caring time when it is in shock and pining for its owner. “The on-site vet will look over the animals and ensure they are treated if necessary. They will be micro-chipped and as soon as they are ready, re-homed with a suitable new owner.” It is hard to face one’s own future without family or friends or furry-pals, but we have to be sure when we are no longer able to do the good and kind thing with our pet(s) that we have ensured their future happiness, even without us!
Donations are welcome, and if wills are needed to reflect the care they need, ARA will assist with its own legal team and pay the costs. The first step? “If you need reassurance, then visit our website, check out the shelter and the team! Make contact.”
You can get peace of mind: email or telephone. Or even visit. ARA’s Open Day 10 September 10.30am-1.00pm. Come and see for yourself. Meet and talk to the team. Check out the beautiful shelter and their ‘furry-lodgers’ waiting for new homes. Take a friend along who may want a new pal! All visits by appointment only.
