A notice addressed to EU residents states that this digital procedure enables eligible individuals to submit their application, pay the associated fees, upload the necessary documentation, and arrange an appointment at an AIMA service point for the collection of biometric data and for in-person verification.
In order to register, users have to input their email address, Tax Identification Number (NIF), date of birth, and residence document number.
The exact rules depend on the type of document: if the document is a paper or card-style residence card, then the leading zero should be left out; but with A4-format certificates (CRUE), the letter 'E' must be included when entering the number.
After the account has been verified and a password has been set, the system automatically looks into any debts that may be owed to the Tax Authority and Social Security—a procedure which can take a few days—and payments for the payment slips issued should be made after a waiting period of 48 hours.
The notice also states that any appointments that were previously scheduled and any requests made through the AIMA contact form by 30 June 2026 remain completely valid.
